The June 4th event was the second in a series of nutrition conferences for physicians and nurses in Chicago. It was held at the teaching kitchen of The Chopping Block, located at the Merchandise Mart. The sold out event is an indication of the high level of interest in both theory and the practical application of obtaining optimal nutrition. It’s encouraging to interact with and speak to this group with heightened awareness about the need for nutrition as the foundation for health. We just might be turning the corner on nutrition awareness and if so, I see a brighter future for us all!
Topics covered The Connection Between Diet and Disease; Dr. Stephen Devries (Gaples Institute), Nutrition and Lifestyle in Medicine; Dr. Clyde Yancy (Chief of Cardiology at Northwestern) Cultural Influences on Dietary Recommendations; Dr. Michael Radkoz (AMA) and Carol D’Anca MS, CNS, LDN providing the practical application of incorporating greens, healthful fats and plant based protein and grains.
Attendees broke for lunch but not to be served lunch but to prepare six entrees of healthful food (recipes developed by me, all whole food plant based) with the assistance of the chefs at The Chopping Block which was enjoyed by all. It was an extraordinary day!
Here’s a short video that describes the conference:
You might want to tell your physician about this conference. The next one will most likely take place in the fall.
