Have you ever wondered why Twinkies cost less than carrots? It’s because our tax dollars support big agribusiness and mainly the dairy and cattle industries. These industries received 63% of government subsidy monies. The fruit and vegetable industry receives 1% of government subsidy for their industry. This allows the dairy and meat industry to have an artificially lower cost at the grocery store while the cost of fruits and vegetables is artificially high.
