The Myth of the High Protein Diet

The Myth of the High Protein Diet

One of the most asked questions posed to vegans is “where do you get your protein?”  When I get asked this question I like to ask back, “where do you get your fiber, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals?” because these nutrients are missing in animal products.  I’ve come to just accept that we are fixated on protein while having missed the point about nutrition overall. Thankfully, others in respectable places are speaking much more eloquently and with research addressing this topic.

I think you will enjoy reading this very recent NY Times article and what Dr. Dean Ornish and Kim Williams have to say about the topic. The article is also linked to additional and deeper information if you would like to study it over.
