Welcome to Reggio Calabria. The Tip of the Boot of Italy!

  • Day 1: Arrival at Reggio Calabria Airport, meet with staff for private transfer to the hotel.

    Afternoon: Check-in at an elegant 4-star hotel in the heart of Reggio Calabria and time to relax.

    Early evening - enjoy a delicious “meet and greet” group dinner.

    Evening: Enjoy walk on the Falcomatà seafront, known as the “the most beautiful kilometer in Italy.” We think you will agree. Walk along the seafront, enjoy the view of the mountains and the illuminated Strait of Messina.

    Overnight: Reggio Calabria (4-star hotel).

    Included Meal: Welcome dinner.

  • Day 2: Bergamot King of Reggio Calabria – From Field to Table.

    Morning: Enjoy a delicious rooftop buffet breakfast at the hotel with wonderful views of the seafront and the city of Reggio Calabria.

    After our leisurely breakfast we’ll leave for a guided tour of an organic Bergamot farm, with hands-on experience in the orchard and tasting of bergamot-based products (juice, jams). The bergamot fruit is a fascinating citrus that's primarily valued for its aromatic peel. It’s only grown and cultivated in Calabria.

    We’ll return to the city center later in the morning and discover local crafts, in particular, small, aromatic containers that highlight the traditional use of the bergamot fruit in Calabrian culture.

    We will taste the bergamot “sweet lunch” based on artisan bergamot ice cream, sorbets, granitas, and small sweets, and discover the versatility of this Calabrian citrus fruit.

    Afternoon: A visit to the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria dedicated to the area of Southern Italy colonized by the Greeks. The museum renowned for having the largest collection of Greek bronzes dating back from the 5th century BC.

    Evening: Free time to explore the city of Reggio and its many small trattorias.

    Overnight: Reggio Calabria (4-star hotel).

    Included Meals: Breakfast, Bergamot “Sweet Lunch”

  • Day 3: Scilla and Chianalea – The Flavors of the Sea and Swordfish.

    Following our leisurely rooftop breakfast at the hotel we will depart by panoramic train from Reggio Calabria Lido to Scilla, admiring the splendid Costa Viola.

    We’ll have a guided tour of Scilla (Marina Grande, Ruffo castle, fishermen's houses) and discovery of the “luntri”, the traditional boats for swordfish fishing.

    A typical lunch will be served meal based on swordfish and seafood in Chianalea di Scilla, in a panoramic restaurant by the sea.

    We’ll return to Reggio Calabria by train. A wonderful cultural experience to enjoy the clean and efficient mode of Italian transportation!

    The evening is free for relaxation or personal activities.

    Overnight: Reggio Calabria (4-star hotel).

    Included Meals: Breakfast, Swordfish-based lunch.

  • Day 4: Immersion in Deliba Extra Virgin Olive Oil in Molochio, Plus, Ancient Bread Making.

    Following our delicious breakfast at the hotel we will check out of the hotel and depart by private bus to Molochio, at the foot of the Aspromonte Mountains and discover a whole new world of Calabria. You will be greeted by the owners of Deliba Olive Oil production, walk among the centuries-old olive trees, watch (and maybe participate in) manual olive harvesting and discovery of local varieties of olives.

    Lunch will feature a Calabrian “peasant” lunch outdoors (weather permitting) among the olive trees, with fresh local products and traditional dishes.

    After lunch, we’ll visit a Slow Food oven in the town of Molochio where you will be immersed in the world of ancient grains and sourdough; tasting of bread, focaccia and artisan baked goods.

    In the evening we’ll check-in at the Uliveto Principessa Resort in Cittanova with time to relax, enjoy the pool and have a light dinner at the Uliveto Principessa Resort.

    Overnight: Uliveto Principessa Resort (4-star hotel).

    Included: Meals: Breakfast, Traditional lunch, Light dinner

  • Day 5: The Birth of Calabria’s Gold – A visit to the mill where olive oil is pressed. Witness firsthand the making of olive oil!

    Following our delicious breakfast with local foods at the Uliveto Principessa Resort, our motorcoach awaits to take us back to Deliba for a guided tour of an oil mill where you will see the making of olive oil from start to finish. This is a rare and wonderful experience! We’ll end the day with the tasting of newly milled extra virgin olive oil! You’ll be experts when it comes to understanding how olive oil is made.

    We’ll return to the Uliveto Principessa Resort later in the afternoon for free time, relaxation and dinner.

  • Day 6: After checking out of the Principessa Resort Hotel we’ll transfer to Tropea, called the the “Pearl of the Tyrrhenian.”

    Check-in at an elegant 4-star Elisio hotel just few steps from the historic center and beaches of Tropea. You’ll have free time to start enjoying both the lively atmosphere and beauty of the beach.

    All you will need is a group walk through the city, and you’ll feel right at home. The rest of the afternoon and evening is free to explore the historic center of Tropea and dine in a local restaurant.

    Overnight: 4-star hotel in Tropea.

    Included Meals: Breakfast – dinner on your own in the beautiful surroundings of Tropea.

  • Day 7: Pizzo Calabro – Truffle Ice Cream and Traditional Wines

    Morning (9:00 AM): Breakfast with sea view at the hotel in Tropea.

    Morning (10:00 AM): Departure by private bus to Pizzo Calabro, the “City of Ice Cream.” .

    Morning (11:00 AM - 12:30 PM): Visit to a historic winery with tasting of Calabrian wines. .

    Afternoon (3:00 PM - 5:00 PM): Workshop and tasting of the famous “Truffle of Pizzo” in an artisan ice cream parlor, discovering recipes and variations. .

    Afternoon (5:00 PM - 7:00 PM): Guided tour of the historic center of Pizzo Calabro, with free time to visit artisan shops and the Murat Castle. .

    Evening: Return to Tropea, free dinner and time to enjoy the evening. .

    Overnight: 4-star hotel in Tropea. .

    Included: Meals: Breakfast, Wine tasting, Pizzo, and Famous Truffle (not the mushroom but the ice cream made in Pizzo) tasting.

    Morning (9:00 AM): Energetic breakfast at the hotel. .

  • Day 8: Boat Tour to Capo Vaticano and Red Onion of Tropea.

    We will enjoy our delightful breakfast at the Elisio Hotel we will Enjoy the stunning stretch of the Calabrian coastline named the “Coast of the Gods” (Costa degli Dei) on an exclusive boat tour between Tropea and Capo Vaticano.

    The area is known for its dramatic landscapes, featuring a mix of white sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, and secluded coves. The crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea are a major draw, often likened to those of the Caribbean – not to be missed! .

    This three-hour tour will have three 30-minute swim stops in the most enchanting bays where you can swim in crystal-clear waters, relax in the sun on comfortable loungers, and enjoy a delicious aperitif with local products and Calabrian wine. .

    Of course, it’s weather permitting but we are very positive about the weather. .

    Evening: Typical Calabrian dinner in a selected restaurant in Tropea, featuring the Red Onion of Tropea DOP (DOP means the determination of production for high-quality product).

    Overnight: 4-star hotel in Tropea. .

    Included Meals: Breakfast, Aperitif on board, Typical dinner with Red Onion of Tropea.

  • Day 9: Free Day in Tropea – Relax Before Departure.

    Morning (9:00 AM): Panoramic breakfast at the hotel.

    Day: Entirely dedicated to relaxation and personal activities in Tropea (sea, beaches, historic center).

    Overnight: 4-star hotel in Tropea.

    Included: Breakfast and group celebration dinner on our last night in beautiful Tropea.

  • Day 10

    Goodbye Calabria! – As we enjoy our breakfast and check out of our hotel, we’ll say goodbye to our new friends as we will departure in our private coach for the airport, only to promise we’ll return again soon.

 Pace of the trip.

This is not a trip where we will be up at dawn, looking at tourist attractions all day and returning at night exhausted. We will fully experience authentic Italy at a pace allowing us to absorb the beauty, culture, food and people while enjoying the Italian lifestyle. Time traveling on the motorcoach is kept to a minimum.

Experiencing Italy requires walking.

With that being said, Italians walk, and we will be walking a lot.  Streets in Italy are not smooth and paved, escalators do not exist, many times there are steps.

We will not be taking taxis. In fact, they are rarely available. Experiencing another country as Italy requires living and moving about like a local.

If you are not a fan of walking this likely is not the trip for you.

The “Authentic Italy” excursions are a rich and lasting experience in the lives of those who experience it by gaining a new perspective on life and on living well.
